Until further notice the messages that accompany this notice will be part of the “Come out of her my people” series. They will be harsh. They will cause people to get upset. This is as it should be. They must question the way they think and live. So, they can seek to follow Christ and not the world.
Discussion
Faith AND works.
James 2:26 NKJV – For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
As I mentioned in one of the earlier podcasts, the Spirit being referred to here is the Holy Ghost, which conforms to this verse:
John 3:5 NKJV – Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Why I center on this is to show the importance of seeking to truly follow the commandments.
Following Christ’s teachings and the commandments is an act, an action, works.
This is why we are called to separate ourselves from the world. Again an act, an action, works.
The Bible time and again shows works. But, so many want to deny this Truth. Especially those that want to have mammon and God. Those that wish to live by faith alone, just so they can live their lives the way they want to.
During an encounter with someone that wishes to insist that it is by faith alone threw out the typical one or two verses.
This person used these verses:
Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV – For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Yet, let’s look at these verses in full context, which is required when reading the Bible.
Ephesians 1:15-2:10 NKJV – Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
The key configuration of this sentence shows we are to focus our faith in Jesus Christ and know that because of Christ we were brought into this world to do works for the glory of God and His glory alone.
Within these verses in full context we see works time and again, Works in sin and works in faith. Works given to glorify God through Jesus Christ alone. Never taking personal credit or self-glory.
When people take just two verses out of nineteen to press their point of view, their opinion. That makes them false teachers and in turn not only damn themselves, but those that listen to their people-pleasing message of lies.
Nitpicking the Bible is sin. Choosing which verses make you happy and comfortable leads to damnation. It allows people to create a narrative that enables them to live as they want not how Christ commands.
Galatians 1:6-10 NKJV – I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
Key elements of these verses that are important to today’s study.
“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another.”
And
“For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.”
People turn quickly away because they start to nitpick the Word of God to glean out what will allow them to be what they have always been, but covered in the “holy” shroud of Jesus Christ. Thus, making their “Savior” themselves or more accurately Satan who rewards them with earthly treasures.
Luke 4:5-6 NKJV – Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
This is why the world is coming ever nearer to Christ Jesus’ soon return. All because of people pleasers. Those nitpicking the sweetness from the Bible. Forgetting that the Bible is actually salt. Bitter, harsh. Something that makes those hearing it doubt themselves. Why? Because they aren’t to have faith in themselves, but God through Jesus Christ.
This brings us to the other verse, so let’s hear it once again.
“For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.”
Let’s look at the word “bondservant.”
Bondservant – servant – G1401 – doulos – Servant, Slave, Bondservant
Of the 141 times the word is used. 34 times, nearly one quarter of the times it is used, the word means bondservant.
What does it mean to be a bondservant?
Bondservant – a person bound to service without wages.
- Bound – having a moral or legal duty to do something.
What we learn from this word is that all that profess to being True Disciples of Jesus Christ are called to spread to Word of God without compensation.
Therefore, those that seek after and receive earthly rewards do not server God through Jesus Christ. They receive their rewards from the great deceiver who gladly rewards those that follow him. Because the Bible makes it very clear that nothing of this earth comes from God.
1 John 2:15-16 NLT – Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.
Which, brings us full circle back to reading Ephesians in context:
Ephesians 2:1-3 NKJV – And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
“Who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.”
“The prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.”
Understand. Any who seek after. Any who receive earthly rewards of any type. Receive these rewards as a friend of the world.
James 4:4 NKJV – Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
An enemy of God. I don’t understand how people, especially those that call themselves “Christian” don’t grasp the full context of this.
But, wait. What I am saying. They call themselves “Christian.” In their eyes they are not God’s enemy. Even though they seek after mammon. When the Bible makes it clear. It is God OR mammon. Those that have both are called the lukewarm.
Revelation 3:15-16 NKJV – “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
“Because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”
They ARE His enemies, and He had vigorously removed them from His Body. His Church. Even though they go to a building called a “church.” Wearing their sins for all to see as drive their sins about town. Living in their sin. Filled with nothing but more sin. Damning themselves even more and more everyday. Gathering nothing but chaff which will burn away upon the day they stand before the Great White Throne Judgement. Just as promised to them by the false prophets and teachers that stand upon the daises. Guaranteeing their place in the second resurrection. Showing they welcome and desire to go into the lake of fire. All because they want and desire their earthly rewards and do not desire to do as they were commanded.
Mark 10:21 NKJV – Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”
“Sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come , take up the cross and follow Me.”
God Bless
