Live today like you are going to die tomorrow……… a… NO!

This is one of those statements that opens the door the sin. It makes people think there is nothing beyond “tomorrow.” However, there is. This is why seeking after earthly rewards, earthly pleasures, earthly lusts and earthly distractions is actually the wrong way to approach life itself.
We are to be humble, placing all others before ourselves. This does not mean to let someone else rule us, but to place their eternal needs before our own. To help them seek after that true and great reward that is beyond this mere at best one hundred year lifespan. This simple belief has nearly completely been wiped out form the hearts of all humanity.
Even those that count themselves amongst those that follow Jesus still in part fall prey to this mentality and in most cases do not realize they are living in sin due to their earthly lust.
Now to understand what the last statement meant we need to understand that “lust” is not just used for things like “fornication” or “adultery,” but for anything that give pleasure or any type that goes beyond what should be considered the basic needs. In the simplest of terms, a “lust” is a “want.”
In the Lord’s Prayer we say, “Give us this day our daily bread.” This is all we require. This one statement covers all our earthly needs. Do we need shelter? Yes. Do we need food to live? Yes. Do we need simple cloths to cover us from sin? Yes. In these needs we in turn require a simple mode of transport to get to a job that will require us to get money that then is used to get the above needs. That is all that we require.
Everything beyond this is a “want” a “lust.” All this goes beyond what we need to survive and learn to be a better human being in the teachings that our Savior and His Father gave us. For our ultimate goal is to make to Christ reign upon this planet and then once that thousand year reign is completed out glorious task and rewards that lie beyond in the billion upon billion upon billions of years that are to follow.
Hebrews 2: 14 – Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Matthew 6: 9 – After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen
