Discussion
Once of my greatest sorrows is seeing those that say they are for the Lord. Basically, use Him as an excuse for their own wants and desires. They think and believe they are one with God. With all their heart they say they are His children. However, their words and their actions say otherwise.
One thing I have noted in many areas within those that profess to being “Christians” is their willingness to exclude the nation of Israel. They chose to ignore the covenant that God made with Abraham.
What is a covenant? It is a formal agreement or promise between two or more people or between God and a man.
With God though it is something greater. Between our Lord God and the father of Israel it is a statement that Israel will never see any end.
Many that profess that they are “Christian” reject Israel; say they are to replace Israel. The nation from which the Messiah came.
Jeremiah 31:31-34 – “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
This is restated in Hebrews 8:7-12
This is the reaffirmation to Israel that they will never be left separated from God. Any who question this deny He who made this promise. Yet millions do. They say things like “spiritual Israel” and saying they are Israel’s replacement.
Then why bother to say this:
Romans 2:9-11 – There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile. 10 But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile. 11 For God does not show favoritism.
Let us say that last verse once again for those that believe they are greater than Israel:
“For God does not show favoritism.”
Any who say there is no place for Israel just said that God DOES show favoritism, when the Bible makes it clear that He does not.
Another thing that I find interesting is the unwillingness of people to look at what people throughout the centuries of concluded about what is found within the Bible. People like Polycarp, Clement of Alexandria, John Calvin, and John Milton just to name a few.
These men studied the Bible and as well as Hebrew and Greek. Yet people believe they know more than these people. I have said in the past that I do not believe the words of humans over the Word of God, but when what they say falls in line with the Bible are they not in line with God?
What can be clearly stated is that if you wish to truly know the Word of God each person must not just read the Bible, but truly study it for themselves. All the way down to the Hebrew, Aramaic, and the Greek if they truly wish to know God and His Son our Mediator and Savior Jesus Christ.
Now that I have said this, I will show the verses of Revelation that deal with a certain group within the Tribes of Israel.
Revelation 7:1-8 – Then I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds so they did not blow on the earth or the sea, or even on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel coming up from the east, carrying the seal of the living God. And he shouted to those four angels, who had been given power to harm land and sea, 3 “Wait! Don’t harm the land or the sea or the trees until we have placed the seal of God on the foreheads of his servants.” 4 And I heard how many were marked with the seal of God—144,000 were sealed from all the tribes of Israel: 5 from Judah, 12,000; from Reuben, 12,000; from Gad, 12,000; 6 from Asher, 12,000; from Naphtali, 12,000; from Manasseh, 12,000; 7 from Simeon, 12,000; from Levi, 12,000; from Issachar, 12,000; 8 from Zebulun, 12,000; from Joseph, 12,000; from Benjamin, 12,000.
These are Messianic Jews. We must take the Word of God literally and not attempt to play word games with the Word. For when you start to place into it what is not there you change the Word to please those listening. And what happens to those that do this:
Galatians 1:6-10 – I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News 7 but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. 8 Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. 9 I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed. 10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.
So those that place themselves above Israel are giving a false people pleasing teaching that cause them to be cursed by the Lord our God.
Now they will take exception that these words have been spoken. However, they have already forgotten the verses we started with today, so I will restate them:
Hebrews 6:4-6 – For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come— 6 and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.
And to them I will add this:
2 Peter 2:20-22 – And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. 21 It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life. 22 They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.”
And once again this:
John 15:1-6 – “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.
This is not a people pleasing message, this is the Truth.
This is why people do not wish to hear messages like this one.
2 Timothy 4:1-5 – I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom: 2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 – For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
That time has come, and many think they are better than those that tell the truth.
James 4:10-11 – Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. 11 Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you.
The other day I encountered someone that could not hear the Truth. They argued and attacked. They thought themselves better more superior because they were in the right and I was in the wrong. Yet I quoted the Bible and showed the Word of God. Yet I was in the wrong and they were in the in right. They knew better than the direct quotes of the Bible. The direct Word of God.
“If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law.”
Oh Lord how much longer must we endure those that listen to fables and believe they are greater than your Word?
God Bless
