Discussion
Revelation 18:4 NKJV – And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
Now there are several points that people must come to a realization about this verse. True it is later in the book of Revelation. However, it is aimed at describing one of the two Babylons. The first Babylon, described in chapter seventeen is the apostate religion which will worship the world and the antichrist. The second is the place called the City of Babylon which is an actual place that exists within this temporal plain we now live within.
It is due to this last statement that this verse is stated and confirmation that at this very moment the City of Babylon is in existence as well the apostate religion. This also means that followers of Christ at this very moment are in the City of Babylon, which is why this warning is given. This is Truth of the Word of God. Refuse to accept it at your own peril of eternal salvation. For it is made clear that we are not to partake of her sins. Therefore, what are her sins?
First:
Revelation 18:3 NKJV – For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”
1 – For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her
- fornication – G4202 – porneia – harlotry (including adultery and incest); figuratively idolatry, whoredom
a1) harlotry – prostitution
a2) whoredom – Unlawful sexual relations. Promiscuous sex; unfaithfulness to God; idolatry.
- idolatry – excessive or blind adoration, reverence, devotion, excessive devotion to or reverence for some person or thing
The first sins listed are very telling and reflect the mentality found within many. We see many behaviors that are present in today’s society and has been prevalent and growing for decades but took a greater leap forward starting in the late 1960s and was marked by the event called Woodstock, which took place in 1969. Promiscuous sex increased nearly exponentially. Marriage decreased and unbiblical divorces increased, which fits with “unlawful sexual relations.” People began to leave God and the teachings found within the Bible. To understand the full meaning of “idolatry” we must look to the Word of God:
Ephesians 5:5 NLT – You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
“Worshiping the things of this world.” This includes homes, and those things which fill it. As well as expensive clothes and those things which are called a “want” and are not necessary for someone’s basic requirements to survive. They also worship celebrities be that in music, movies or even politics. This leads us to the next sin listed in this verse from Relveation.
2) abundance of her luxury
To this one we will turn to the Word of God to come to understanding:
Luke 16:13-15 NKJV – “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him. And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
Seeking after wealth. Buying expensive homes, multiple homes, expensive items to fill these buildings. Fancy cars. Buying items not needed or required. All of this is things which Jesus Christ said we are not to do or seek after.
Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV – “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Mark 10:21 NKJV – Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”
Luke 14:25-27 NKJV – Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
Luke 14:33 NKJV – So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
Many now profess to being “Christian” yet they live in all those things I mentioned earlier. Consequently, in essence they are not following the command given to us in Revelation 18:4. They believe with all their hearts that they are saved and redeemed when it is clear to all that this is the furthest thing from the truth. They have chosen to reject the commands of Christ. They have denied their Savior, who says this to those that choose to turn their back upon Him.
Matthew 10:33 NKJV – But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
They behave just as the Pharisees did to Christ when He said you cannot serve two masters. However, they still can redeem themselves. They still have the opportunity to fix their relationship with God, which is why Christ said this in the last letter to the seven churches:
Revelation 3:17-19 NKJV – Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
“Be zealous and repent.”
what does it mean to be zealous?
Zealous – G2206 – zéloó – affect, covet (earnestly), (have) desire, (move with) envy, be jealous over, I am eager for.
So let us put this into perspective by also looking at the word “chasten.”
Chasten – G3811 – paideuó – to train up a child, that is educate, or by (implication) discipline (by punishment), more severely.
Learn the Truth of the Word of God earnestly and repent meaning to do as the Bible instructs. Sell your possessions and stop living as the world lives. No tattoos, no fancy clothes. Use most of your earthly wealth to spread the Word of God
1 Timothy 6:17-19 NKJV – Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
Stop thinking only about your own self desires and wants.
James 3:13-18 NKJV – Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Take action now, not tomorrow and do not shrug off what is being said here as if it were being said by someone not speaking the Truth. Christ made it clear that we are not to be a part of the world. This makes it so if we are willing to pursue to be His children, His disciples, to come out of the City of Babylon.
In my earlier podcast #133 (And the Sun and Moon will Darken) I go into detail about the two times during the tribulation that the sun will darken. One will be during the breaking of the seals. This is the one that falls in line with the plagues that will befall the City of Babylon. Because during this time those that follow Christ can still be found in this temporal plain of existence. So, this warning will still be relevant to them, however, since the plagues happen toward the end of the first three and a half years of the tribulation. There is no telling how many may be left by that time.
It is also hopeful that they would have awakened to the truth by that time, and hopefully repented from the false teachings they had embraced which resulted in their being still in this temporal existence at this time frame. Leaving them to suffer the trials and could I say tribulations that will befall them in this time frame.
We must also remember that at this time it will be mandatory to accept the mark of the beast, which all indications point to being a chip that is injected into their right hand or possibly inserted into their nasal cavity which is found in the forehead. Even though there has been evidence of a tattoo that has microchip tech planted into the ink. So, disposing for all the personal items people have collected around themselves will be difficult to dispose of. Even though there will be scrupulous people that will take from those selling these idols they worshipped over God for hardly what their supposed earthly value would be. But honestly isn’t this what they will deserve for not truly following Christ and all His commandments in the first place?
As I have stated before we are stewards. We are the servants of Christ.
Hebrews 13:1-9 NLT – Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies. Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery. Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith. Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.
These are the actions of a steward of Jesus Christ. It is how all should be acting now. Most refuse to accept this. Most would rather live in their idolatry of worldly possessions.
Is this the fate you truly desire for yourself? All because you refused to heed the warning. So, I will state it once again.
Revelation 18:4 NKJV – And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
To come out of her you must get rid of your homes, clothes and luxuries that go beyond your daily needs to survive and then use most of your earthly wealth to spread the Word of God
God Bless
