Review: Black Panther (2018) (SPOILER)

I must say that I was surprised by this film. It keeps the Marvel/Disney partnership still look like the best use of Marvel’s characters to date.
Why is this?
I consider this movie to be mayhaps the first true attempt to heal the rift within the races that was brought to fester once again by the previous presidential administration. I remember the Cosby show, when Bill was not seen as a pariah. That show helped bring the races of this nation together. That is how I see Black Panther.
The true villain in this movie is the mentality of those that promote and demand vengeance for the acts of those long dead i.e. those that enslaved blacks. This was made manifest in the actions, behavior and attitude of the cousin of T’Challa. He and his father both saw those that had so-called diminished black culture to a third world roll needed to pay for this behavior.
T’Challa and those with him, for the most part. Did not show this mentality. They, again for the most part, saw that they were part of a larger community. All of humanity. Yes they did see that human behavior in the past was something that should be frowned upon, but not to the point of demanding vengeance or even their own actions to become the slave masters. This is however how Erik did think and belief.
Those within Wakanda, especially within the royal council, again for the most part, embraced the fact that all of humanity is equal. That the sins of the past show not be thrown at the feet of those that live today. No one should be held to account for the sins of their ancestors, and this is the core of the message that I saw brought out within this movie. As is clearly brought to light the second time T’Challa enters the vision as he once again become Black Panther.
I highly recommend this movie and watch it and listen to the message that is within.

Review: Silence (2016)

“Silence,” is the story of a priest who goes to Japan in the 15th century in search of his mentor. The story covers the persecution of Christians in the Nagasaki province of this island nation. As the journey progress we see the horrid and brutal treatment of Japanese Christians as well as some priests.
The underlying message that the liberal Hollywood was trying to convey through this movies was the need to today’s Christians to also become silent and hide the fact that they are Christian or in time they to would face the same fate as was bestowed upon the 15th century Japanese Christians as well as the Jews and Christians which opposed the Socialist agenda of the Third Reich of the National Socialist German Workers Party of the 1930 and 40, in Germany, otherwise known as the Nazi Party.
The major difference being that in the trials that are to come for Christianity those that are left cannot be silent. They cannot step upon the image of Christ or as will be required in the time to come. To accept the mark of the Antichrist. For those are left you must never take the mark and must face the horrors and tortures as those that died at the hands of the those now long dead Japanese and those within the Nazi government.

Review: Hillary’s America: The Secret History Of The Democratic Party

I cannot use my usual method of rating films here since that rating system was established for movies dedicated to escapism.
This movie is not for the escapist, but for those that wish to have their eyes opened to the facts.
Unfortunately those that need to see it the most will refuse to watch.
The only thing that bothered me was the ending when Dinesh D’Souza the producer and director as well as writer of this documentary did get a little too propaganda-ish with the patriotic songs.
He did though present good evidence and reconfirmed fact that I no longer hear mentioned.
Point Andrew Jackson sleeping with his female slaves, there is evidence that there were children born from these coerced unions.
Point that Woodrow Wilson did air the original “The Birth of a Nation” in the White House.
Point that the Klan did show in force at the 1924 Democratic Convention
Point that the Republican Party has always been against slavery and discrimination against not only different races but sexes as well.

Is this something that I feel someone especially those that are for the Democratic Party to watch? Most definitely, especially if you are black.

Overall rating I give it a 3 out of 5 stars to watch.

Review: Fort Apache (1948)

This is another wonderful John Ford directed film. Mr. Ford I have to say was one of the best directors of the Twentieth century. All of his films are timeless and worth the effort to watch. All have good stories and touches of humor as well as drama that makes each one worthy of your time and effort.
In this particular film Henry Fonda stars as a by the book officer who feels cheated by the regular army since he is sent to Fort Apache. In tow is his daughter played by the grown up Shirley Temple in one of her last films.
The co-star is John Wayne as well as others from the Ford company of actors. All do very well under Mr. Ford’s direction. It is also the very first film made in Monument Valley.
One scene within the movie that until now I found a look into the past has now struck me as if I am looking into the present, which is not only shocking but sad when you truly think upon it. The scene to which I am referring is when Col. Thursday takes his soldiers to the Indian Reservation to confront the Indian Agent. Mr. Meacham the government’s representative shows me something that I have come to realize is present in today’s government. He shows contempt yet he says he cares for everyone. When I see him I just see Lois Lerner and her attitude of self-righteous hypocrisy. I am just reminded of how corrupt those in the government are at this time due to rules, regulations and unions that do not allow us to fire and or jail these corrupt people that fill our government agencies. The one line that Peter Fonda says is something that needs to be said to all:
“Mr. Meacham you’re blackguard, a liar, a hypocrite and a stench in the nostrils of honest men; if it were in my power I would hang you from the nearest tree and leave your carcass for the buzzards, but as you are a representative of the United States Government I pledge you the corporation and the protection of my command.”
There will be those that wish to bluster and protest me making this comparison of this character in this movie to those currently in the government. It is something that each person must search their souls about before they do protest. If it were not true then there would be no Lois Lerner, hundreds of Vets would not have died without being taken care of at the VA. Billions of dollars would not have been wasted for the Obamacare website. This is all due to political corruption and mismanagement. It is why the Federal Government MUST be down sized ASAP.

Review: Divergent (2014)

I have to say this is one of the worst movies I have watched. The story premise was stupid and quickly falls apart. The villain of the story. Wait was there a villain. Oh yeah, her character was so weak I nearly forgot there was one. (Kate Winslet needs to give her money she earned for this back).
I will say this. They tried to create a society that was something that was neutral yet if you really think on the teachings of the Bible the “divergent” were actually Christians. Something I really think they had no intention of making, but they actually did subconsciously. This maybe is what has made this movie so popular since people really do seek out God in their life.

Review: It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

This is the quintessential Christmas movie. In recent years, it and other movies that deal with a religious theme have had a hard time being seen on television. In a nation that says it is open to all views has been systematically shutting down the voice of religion. As a result, this nation is turning into Pottersville.
The movie shows the life of George Bailey (James Stewart) and how time after time he must choose between what he wants and what is good for his fellow town’s people. The fact that heaven steps into the situation shows that George is a Christian and is showing you the viewer how all should think and behave. Placing the self last and all others first a core element in the teachings of Jesus Christ. As a result, he becomes the most loved person in the little town of Bedford Falls.

Review: A Christmas Carol (1938, 1951, 1984)

A true classic of the holiday season. The weakest of the years listed is the 1938. Originally supposed to star Lionel Barrymore he injured his leg which effectually led to him being wheelchair bound, instead stared Reginald Owen. The main redeeming factor of this film was the Lockhart family. Gene Lockhart (the judge from the 1947 version of “Miracle on 34th Street” [another true classic]) his wife Kathleen and uncredited was June Lockhart (Lassie [1954], Lost in Space [1965]) their daughter who played “Belinda.”
1951 and 1984 had the better scripts, but to me the 1984 version is the best of the all of them. Starring George C. Scott, I highly recommend they all be watched and each person seriously think about their own behavior and actions as they do, because there are a lot of Scrooges out there in the real world today and it is saddening.

Review: A Christmas Story (1983)

Out of all the Christmas movies out there, this one to me is the worst. Even “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” (1964), which my mother actually took me to see, which was horrid, is better than this movie. The story is so weak it has to have a narrator carry the story to keep you interested. The humor is demeaning and degrading and to me actually insults the season.

Review: A Man for all Seasons (1966)

This is the story of Sir Thomas More, chancellor to King Henry VIII. It is a conflict between him and his king that is the basis of this movie. At its core is More’s faith and believes. The king insists that he get More’s approval to divorce. Before this argument is through King Henry will separate from the Catholic Church and form the Church of England. This will allow him to divorce and even kill his queens. It will also lead to More’s martyrdom since he will stand by his faith and believes over those of the King, which are in the wrong. By the way, this is why the United States made the First Amendment.

Review: Guardians of the Galaxy

First I must say having been around for the original Star Lord and Guardians I went into the theater skeptical of what I would encounter. I can honestly say that these new Guardians and Star Lord in particular are handled rather well.
I can also say that the next link in this Disney/Marvel series of movies did with excitement and action what other movies do as an intro or narrative. First, we are introduced to the literal expanded universe in which Marvel has placed its characters within. Alien races are the core elements of this movie as it carries the overall story arc forward.
The action is quick and continual. If it look like it is going to get boring, it makes you laugh and then you are in the action once again. It is well worth the time and money. Oh and by the way, plan on sitting through all the credits to see a post-credit clip to the movie.
